Who am I ?
Hi! I am Pilar, a Spanish solo female traveler who has been living abroad for more than half of her life. Since a very young age I had a passion for traveling and reading adventure novels. As a kid I bought and read all Jules Verne books and dreamed of travel and adventures from my bedroom.
As the tender age of 12 I did my first, almost solo trip abroad, and stayed in the U.K. with a family for a whole month immersed in the British culture. The experience was life changing and as soon as I had the chance I moved first to France, where I spend a six months period doing a research project and then to the Netherlands, where I started my working career.
A physicist, musician and scuba diving instructor by education, I am fascinated by diversity and the way it can encourage creativity and development in our society.
Traveling and getting immersed in other cultures, understanding their ways of life and perspectives, is the missing pillar in our educational systems.
I believe that traveling should be a culturally immersive experience. Building bridges between countries and cultures while respecting mutual differences does not only benefit the traveler but also the hosting communities.
Why TravelTheWorldPages?
“The world is an open book and those who do not travel read only one page” was the quote that inspired me to name my blog TravelTheWorldPages.
I created my blog to share my travels and help other people to take the courage to travel alone and get immersed in the local cultures while respecting and encouraging its uniqueness.
What will you find here?
My traveling style is independent, I usually jump on a plane with vague plans and go in search of the most authentic and enriching adventures on a destination. You can find me attending a Berber wedding in Morocco at the gates of the Sahara desert, visiting a traditional healer in Tanzania or scuba diving in the pristine waters of the Red Sea.
This blog aims to be a guide that will help you getting around destinations by yourself, and finding true cultural travel experiences all around the world. I also share travel stories that left a footprint in my soul and that I think will help you to better transcend intercultural bridges.
The Good news is: Yes TravelTheWorldPages will make you a better traveler.
